Summary

Currently, Sergio Duffy is a private consultant on animal health and visiting Professor in the Master’s on Animal Health at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He is Member of the ad hoc Group on the evaluation of the Foot and Mouth Status of members of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). 

Dr. Duffy’s professional activities have been oriented to applied epidemiology, epidemiology research and capacity building. He has been deeply involved with the Foot and Mouth Disease and Classical Swine Fever eradication programs and several other animal diseases control programs in Argentina. Also, he has been researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) an was Team Leader of the Foot and Mouth Disease and Animal Diseases Limiting International Trade projects during more than 30 years.

At the international level he has served as Member of the Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases of the OIE.

Dr. Duffy has been Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology at both the graduate and post-graduate level at several Universities of Argentina and has participated in capacity building in numerous South American countries. He has published more than 60 articles in scientific journals and 100 abstracts in congress or symposiums.
