Residents are accepted into the veterinary public health and preventive medicine (VPHPM) residency program in a cohort each mid-June. A posting is made available in this website and on the University of Minnesota Human Resources site each fall.

How to Apply:
Applications for the Veterinary Public Health and Preventative Medicine Residency are open and will be accepted until Monday, December 15th. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online through the University of Minnesota's Office of Human Resources. Use the ID number 370782 to find the position.
Important dates:
- Information Sessions: November 3rd, 2025 at 11:00 AM CST, and November 24th, 2025 at 2:00 PM, CST
- Applications will be accepted until December 15th, 2025
- Interviews are scheduled to take place in January 2026
- Communication from the Selection Committee is anticipated by the end of February 2026
- Positions are set to start on June 15th, 2026

Minimum Requirements:
- A DVM/VMD or an equivalent foreign degree
- At least one year work experience in a private practice, corporate setting, or government
Preferred Requirements:
- MPH degree completed prior to hire
- Two or more years work experience in a private practice, corporate setting, or government
- Excellent oral/written communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams
- Strong time management skills
- High level of experience with a variety of computer software programs
