MPH with Epidemiology Minor: University of Minnesota, 2022

Summary

Michelle graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. During her time at ISU she started her Master’s of Public Health through the University of Minnesota in their online dual degree program. She finished her DVM and worked for two years in a small animal practice in Minneapolis, MN. In 2019, she went back to the University of Minnesota full time to finish her MPH. As part of her degree, she started working on a case-control epidemiological study of Chronic Wasting Disease in farmed cervid herds. Throughout the next four years, this branched into multiple other projects: developing a Biosecurity Assessment for cervid producers, survey analysis of a biosecurity questionnaire from MN cervid producers, and spatial analysis of risk factors associated with CWD positive status in farmed cervid herds. She is excited to be a Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine Resident and to continue advancing her knowledge of all aspects of public health.

Her interests include infectious disease epidemiology, data analysis, spatial temporal epidemiology, animal welfare, and disease surveillance.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and hanging with her cat Ricky.
